We request the honor of your presence on Sunday Nov. 22nd, 2009 at 3:30 PM, to enjoy the deeply spiritual music of Frederic Chopin, played by a performer who has integrated her Buddhist practice and her musical expression.
The Chimei Arts Foundation of Taiwan has invited Ms Gwhyneth Chen to record a CD of Frederic Chopin’s piano works. The album will be released worldwide to commemorate Chopin’s 200th birthday. During Thanksgiving week this year, Ms Chen will record the CD here in the Bay Area.
She has graciously accepted our invitation to preview her program at the Berkeley Buddhist Monastery for a select audience of friends. The repertoire will include eight pieces including three Nocturnes, a Ballade, an Etude, and two Polonaises, among others.
Gwhyneth Chen A pianist of international stature, having played over 500 concerts with orchestras around the world, Gwhyneth Chen has twice been invited to perform in the Chopin Festival of Mallorca. There she lived in the monastery where Chopin wrote some of his more popular works. She has also been invited to perform at the Chopin Festivals of Duzsniki, Poland and in Vienna, Austria.
